Deby from Pewsey booked a day's one to one session with Andy as she was having trouble with catches using her bowl gouge. Andy normally asks everyone who already owns a lathe attending his courses if they could bring their tools with them, especially if they are having some sort of problems using them. The day started with correctly profiling the tools and sharpening them then asking Deby to use them for the whole lesson - that way she can build confidence by using her own tools and can then carry on when she gets on her lathe at home. Deby got on very well and her fears with her bowl gouge gradually disappeared along with the shavings!
