With Andy Browne you can expect an exceptionally well equipped lathe workshop coupled with a superb expert to guide you through everything from getting started to expert tuition on the finer points of wood turning. Arrive for your day with clear goals of what you want to achieve and Andy will help you achieve the results you're hoping for. This is traditional woodworking tuition at it's best - no frills (apart from a superb lunch!), just an amazing experience with a tutor who when you mess up a chunk of wood has the expertise to reshape it and bring it back to a level where you can carry on and turn the material into a thing of beauty. Practical tuition aside, Andy was also an excellent guide as to what equipment I had was great (like my chuck!) and what was sadly lacking and needs replacing (like my gouges) as well as able to recommend better products and where to source them. Don't attend if you are expecting to be an expert after one day's tuition - I'm pretty sure I'll be returning for further lessons. Attend with the expectation that you will leave massively more experienced and confident in practising your new skills at home with the comfort of knowing you'll be able to return to have any problem areas ironed out on your next visit (if needed). This is a day course that anyone passionate about hand crafting will absolutely adore and highly recommended - book well in advance as he's busy!
